Whispers of Depression
Depression is trying to whisper something in your ear. If depression could talk, it would say " I am scared of all these scary emotions, so I am just going to shut down." We need to acknowledge all the emotions and tend to them like we would the plants in our garden. Only then will we see the transformation from depression to vitality.
What can you do?
You need to learn to move through emotions in an empowered way, otherwise your brain sees emotions as a threat and will try to avoid at all costs. The cost can be huge and can include not living with purpose, giving up easily, and numbing your pain through harmful activities. Through therapy we work on past wounds and trauma that led you to shut down these difficult feelings. We will provide you with tools that you can use immediately to help you navigate these feelings. We will access where in your body you have held past hurt, trauma, anger, grief, shame, guilt so that you can release the chains of depression.
Research has shown that having healthy relationships and support is key in combatting depression. Therapy provides a stable, safe relationship where you can uncover the underlying causes without judgment. Through this relationship, you will discover how to improve other relationships in your life so that you can have sustained, healthy relationships outside of therapy.
